Australasian Regional Branch Meeting

• COA Australasian Regional Branch to examine three key technical issues
• Meeting Report and Presentations Available

Monday 28 December 2009: At its 4th Annual Meeting in Sydney on 3 December 2009, the COA’s Australasian Regional Branch established a programme of Working Groups focusing on three key technical issues relating to container management and operations.

The Conference, which was sponsored by SCF Containers International, Gavan/Secure A Load, Hempel and Freightquip, attracted over 50 participants, including delegates from Korea and the US.

During the Open Discussion, it was agreed that the three new WGs would study:

• Off-hire inspection criteria of domestic containers, comparing the COA’s Common Interchange Criteria with other interchange criteria used for domestic Australian container operations
• CSC plating and how domestic use of containers would be affected by proposed changes to CSC regulations
• Proposed design requirements, currently being developed by the Rail Industry Safety and Standard Board (RISSB) relating to the design requirements for rail-borne containers

In addition to these initiatives, the 1-day conference included presentations on a wide range of issues relating to international and regional container and intermodal transport, including CIC, Alternative Materials for Containers and Flexitanks.

4th Australasian Regional Branch Meeting: May 2008

The COA’s Australasian Regional Branch organised its 4th Members Meeting in Melbourne on Wednesday 21st May 2008. With over 40 participants, the Meeting included sessions on a range of issues relevant to COA Members, covering developments in the Container Ports, Shipping, Rail and Trucking sectors.

There was an update on the work being undertaken by the COA through its Working Groups, including Equipment Interchange Inspection Criteria, Flexitanks, Door Locking Gear, CSC and the Environment.

3rd Australasian Regional Branch Meeting: May 2007

Held on 10 May 2007 at the Amora Hotel, Sydney, the 3rd COA Australasian Regional Branch Members Meeting was a great success.  Some 36 delegates representing many different sectors of the industry attended the conference - and the meeting provided them with a unique insight into the COA, its objectives and achievements.
